“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”- John 13:34
I’ve been a part of the church my whole life. Growing up as a pastor’s kid, I saw and experienced firsthand the type of ministry and care that the church had to offer. I knew, beginning in high school, that I wanted to be a part of that and so, I dedicated my education and purpose to becoming a Worship Director. Through high school to now, I was blessed to have friends and mentors help me along that path, but what a few of them saw was that I could be something more than what I envisioned.
In the two years that I have been part of Christ Community, I have heard both an internal and external call to begin seminary. God has demonstrated to me that my ministry must be more than leading music on Sunday morning. I must be a leader who cares for, loves, and supports people, both within the church body and outside.
I don’t know what this call and prodding means fully yet. This is a process that I have just begun and I have and will be taking steps to realize this call. My first step was simply taking my first seminary class which I finished last December. From there, and with the help of Chad, we have started to dream up what a new more focused care ministry will be.
My upcoming steps are to:
• Continue planning with Chad the structure of what care ministry should look like.
• Recruit help so that we may become a community of care and not just a one man ministry.
• Continue my education and training so that I can continue to become a better leader and caregiver.
